Utz recalls certain Zapp’s, Dirty potato chips over potential Salmonella risk

Utz Quality Foods is voluntarily recalling certain varieties of Zapp’s and Dirty brand potato chips nationwide due to a potential Salmonella risk, the company announced.

The recall was issued after Utz was notified that a seasoning ingredient supplied by a third party may contain Salmonella. The seasoning, which included dry milk powder sourced from California Dairies Inc., had previously tested negative before being used in production, but the company initiated the recall out of an abundance of caution.

The affected products include select sizes and varieties of Zapp’s Bayou Blackened Ranch, Zapp’s Salt and Vinegar, Zapp’s Big Cheezy, and Dirty brand Salt and Vinegar, Maui Onion, and Sour Cream and Onion potato chips. The recalled items were distributed to retail stores nationwide and carry various “best by” dates ranging from late July through August 2026.
