Man charged after maintenance worker assaulted at Morris County apartment complex

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Budd Lake man was charged with simple assault after police said he struck an apartment complex maintenance worker during an incident last month in Mount Olive Township.

According to police, officers responded to a Budd Lake apartment complex at approximately 3:54 p.m. June 23 for a report of a past assault.

Police said the victim, a maintenance worker for the apartment complex, was inspecting a neighboring vacant apartment when he was allegedly struck in the face by a resident.

The resident was identified as David Zabita, 54, of Budd Lake.

Police said Zabita was arrested and transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with simple assault. He was later released pending a court hearing.
