
Man charged with DWI after vehicle remains stopped at green light in Morris County
DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Flanders man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police found his vehicle stopped through an entire traffic light cycle early Thursday morning in Denville Township, authorities said.
According to police, an officer on patrol at approximately 1:43 a.m. July 9 observed a vehicle that failed to proceed after a traffic signal turned green. After the vehicle remained stopped through a full light cycle, the officer approached the driver.
Police identified the driver as Gilberto Castillo, 49, of Flanders.
During the investigation, police said Castillo displayed signs of intoxication. He was arrested on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of liquor or drugs and transported to Denville Police Headquarters for processing.
In addition to the DWI charge, police issued Castillo motor vehicle summonses for reckless driving, careless driving and delaying traffic. He was released pending a future appearance in Denville Township Municipal Court.
