RANDOLPH TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — County College of Morris is launching a new Associate of Science degree in Theatre Technology this fall, offering students hands-on training for careers in live entertainment, performing arts and event production.
Enrollment is now open for the Fall 2026 semester.
The two-year program prepares students for careers in theater, concerts, television, corporate events and other live productions through instruction in lighting, sound, stage operations, electronics, scenic design and music recording, while also providing a foundation in the humanities.
Students will gain practical experience through internships, working alongside faculty and production staff during performances presented by the Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts & Music Technologies in the college’s performance venues. Coursework also includes the History of Theatre and Appreciation of Musical Theatre.
“Our new Theatre Technology program is ideal for students who want to be part of the creative engine that brings performances to life, including those produced for the public each semester in our 434-seat Dragonetti Auditorium and the more intimate Black Box Theater,” said Professor Marielaine Mammon, Chairperson of the Marielaine Mammon School of Music, Performing Arts & Music Technologies. “With access to some of the most advanced learning environments available at a community college and being taught by faculty who bring years of real-world experience in voice, theatre and dance, our students can gain the confidence and skills needed to thrive upon graduation.”
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of broadcast, sound and video technicians is projected to grow over the next decade as demand continues for live events and digital productions.
Students who continue their education after graduating from CCM may benefit from New Jersey’s Statewide Transfer Agreement, which allows general education credits earned at the college to transfer to public four-year colleges and universities throughout the state.
The college’s Office of Career & Transfer Services also provides career planning, resume assistance and transfer guidance for students pursuing employment or continuing their education.
