Three charged in alleged PlayStation 5 shoplifting at Mount Olive Walmart; two arrested in connection with Mansfield Walmart shoplifting
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Two Michigan men and a 17-year-old juvenile were charged after allegedly shoplifting a PlayStation 5 from the Walmart, 40 International Drive South, Flanders, while two other men were arrested in connection with a separate shoplifting investigation at the Walmart in Mansfield Township, according to Mount Olive Township police.
Police said officers responded to the Flanders Walmart at approximately 1:59 p.m. July 30 after store loss prevention personnel reported suspicious activity.
According to police, Walmart employees said a male involved in a shoplifting incident earlier that day at the Walmart in Mansfield Township entered the Flanders store. Before officers arrived, the suspects left the store in a black Mitsubishi and drove to the rear of the parking lot, where police conducted a motor vehicle stop.
The driver was identified as a 17-year-old male from Detroit. The passengers were identified as Jadyn D. Cross, 20, of Sterling Heights, Michigan; Lovell R. Smith, 19, of Detroit; Kenneth Russell; and Tayshun Love. Police did not release the hometowns of Russell and Love.
Police said Walmart loss prevention personnel reported seeing the juvenile, Cross and Smith leave the store with a PlayStation 5 valued at $899 without paying.
Mansfield Township police responded to the scene and arrested Russell and Love in connection with a separate shoplifting investigation in their jurisdiction involving the Walmart in Mansfield Township.
Mount Olive police arrested the juvenile, Cross and Smith.
The juvenile was charged with shoplifting and released to a parent. Cross and Smith were each charged with shoplifting and conspiracy before being released pending court proceedings.
