Four charged in three prostitution investigations at Morris County hotel, police say
HANOVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — Four people were charged in three separate investigations targeting alleged prostitution and related offenses at the Scottish Inn in Hanover Township during July, according to police.
Police said the investigations were part of an ongoing effort to combat prostitution- and drug-related activity at the motel.
On July 10, officers received information that Vicky Rivera, 33, of Houston, Texas, was traveling to the Scottish Inn to meet with a “John.” Officers established surveillance at the motel and later located Rivera sitting at a picnic table behind the property.
Due to a language barrier, a Spanish-speaking officer assisted with the investigation. Police said Rivera was found in possession of evidence related to prostitution on her person and inside her vehicle.
Rivera was charged with loitering for the purpose of prostitution, issued four traffic summonses and released pending a court appearance.
On July 12, officers received information that Destiny Sidberry, 24, of Rockaway Beach, New York, was traveling to the Scottish Inn to meet with a “John.” Officers established surveillance at the Red Carpet Inn and the Scottish Inn and observed a black Mercedes matching the information they had received. The vehicle left the motel parking lot before officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 10 East.
Police said officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the investigation, officers found open containers of marijuana and evidence consistent with prostitution inside the vehicle.
Sidberry was charged with loitering for the purpose of prostitution and issued eight traffic summonses. Due to her prior history, she was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
On July 21, officers investigating another report involving the Scottish Inn arrested Shauna Miller, 32, of Hopatcong, and Marco Zecca, 27, of East Hanover.
According to police, Miller admitted she had used a controlled dangerous substance before arriving at the motel, admitted she had come to the Scottish Inn to offer sex in exchange for money, and was found in possession of a glass pipe used for controlled dangerous substances.
Miller was charged with loitering to engage in prostitution and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia before being released pending a court appearance.
Police said Zecca attempted to hinder his apprehension by providing false identifying information. Officers also found him in possession of a glass pipe used for controlled dangerous substances and discovered he had an outstanding traffic warrant issued by the Wharton Municipal Court.
Zecca was charged with possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, hindering his own apprehension, and the outstanding warrant. He was lodged in the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
