SUSSEX COUNTY, N.J. — A longtime Sussex County Sheriff’s Office lieutenant has retired after more than 26 years in law enforcement, ending a career that included assignments in narcotics investigations, community policing and the agency’s K-9 unit.
Lt. Kieran McMorrow began his career with the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office in 2000 when he was hired as a corrections officer in the Bureau of Corrections, according to Sheriff Michael F. Strada.
McMorrow transferred that same year to a sheriff’s officer position in the Bureau of Law Enforcement.
During his career, McMorrow served in the Courthouse Security and Prisoner Transportation Unit, the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, the Sheriff’s Community Policing Unit and the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.
He had also served as the Sussex County Sheriff’s Office public information officer since 2011.
McMorrow is a graduate of Kittatinny Regional High School and graduated from the Bergen County Law & Public Safety Institute’s 86th Basic Police Class. He is also a U.S. Army veteran.
McMorrow received numerous honors during his career, including multiple Sheriff’s Good Conduct Medals, the Educational Achievement Award and Military Service Award. He was also a two-time recipient of the Sheriff’s Achievement Award.
His other honors include the Grand Cordon Award, Sheriff’s K-9 Service Bar, Sussex County Detectives Association Meritorious Service Award and FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award.
“I want to congratulate Lieutenant McMorrow on his retirement after 26 years of service. We wish him the best of luck in all of his future endeavors,” Strada said.
