READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A 47-year-old Readington Township man was arrested after allegedly receiving packages containing controlled dangerous substances through the mail, according to the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.
David Develder was charged Aug. 13 with second-degree possession of prescription legend drugs with intent to distribute and third-degree possession of controlled dangerous substances without a prescription, Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée M. Robeson and Readington Township Police Chief Steve Rindock announced.
The investigation began Aug. 7 when detectives with the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force were notified of two packages addressed to “Henri Hotsauce,” described by authorities as a YouTube moniker, at an address in Readington Township.
Further investigation revealed that the packages tested positive for controlled dangerous substances, according to the prosecutor’s office.
On Aug. 13, members of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, U.S. Homeland Security, the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Readington Township Police Department coordinated a controlled delivery of the packages.
Authorities said Develder was taken into custody without incident moments after the packages were delivered to their original destination.
Develder was charged with one count of second-degree possession of prescription legend drugs with intent to distribute and one count of third-degree possession of controlled dangerous substances without a prescription.
He was released pending his first court appearance, scheduled for Aug. 19.
A second-degree charge may carry a prison sentence of five to 10 years and a fine of up to $150,000. A third-degree charge may carry a prison sentence of three to five years and a fine of up to $15,000.
The investigation remains ongoing.
