Northwest New Jersey workforce board receives $1 million digital literacy grant
NORTHWEST, N.J. — The Workforce Development Board of Northwest New Jersey has been awarded a $1 million state grant to expand digital skills training for Work First New Jersey clients in Morris, Sussex and Warren counties.
The funding comes through the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development’s Digital Literacy Training Grant program.
The Workforce Development Board of Northwest New Jersey, or WDBNNJ, is one of six organizations statewide selected to receive funding from the $6 million fiscal year 2026 grant program. The initiative is designed to help Work First New Jersey participants develop digital skills needed to pursue employment and succeed in the workforce.
The award marks the second consecutive year WDBNNJ has received funding through the program.
Since the digital literacy program launched in 2025, WDBNNJ has provided training and related employment services to 76 Work First New Jersey clients. Participants have also received coaching and mentoring, artificial intelligence certification and training grants intended to support their transition into employment.
The new $1 million grant will fund services over an 18-month period that began July 30 and runs through Jan. 30, 2028.
Five other organizations received grants: Atlantic Cape Community College, Inspire U, Long Beach Island Community Center, Mercer Med Tech and the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
