Police find more than 25 pounds of marijuana, large amount of cash during Route 46 traffic stop in Morris County

DENVILLE TONWSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A New York man was arrested after police allegedly found more than 25 pounds of marijuana and a large amount of cash during a traffic stop on Route 46 in Denville Township, according to police.

Police said an officer stopped a vehicle at about 7:11 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, after observing it traveling carelessly on Route 46 east.

During the stop, officers allegedly found more than 25 pounds of marijuana, a large quantity of U.S. currency and drug-related paraphernalia, police said.

The driver, Ebraheem Al-Zanam, 24, of Yonkers, New York, was arrested and taken to Denville Police Headquarters for processing.

Al-Zanam was charged with first-degree distribution of more than 25 pounds of marijuana, third-degree money laundering and fourth-degree possession of more than 6 ounces of marijuana.

He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for careless driving, failure to use a proper signal, tinted windows, operating a motor vehicle while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance and following too closely, according to police.

Al-Zanam was then taken to the Morris County Correctional Facility pending a future court appearance.
