The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced 12 finalists for its 2026 class, with classic games, dolls and other longtime favorites competing for induction this November.
The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester announced the finalists as bingo, Bop It!, Care Bears, Mahjong, Monster High dolls, Mouse Trap, Pokémon Trading Card Game, Polly Pocket, slide, Sorry!, Tickle Me Elmo and Yahtzee.
“It’s debating season, and this year’s finalists give everyone plenty to talk about—from classic games to plush icons and other toys that have shaped generations of play. The debate is part of the fun because every toy sparks different memories and makes its own case for why it matters,” says Michelle Parnett-Dwyer, senior curator at The Strong National Museum of Play.
The public can vote for its favorite finalists from Sept. 16 through Sept. 23 through the “Player’s Choice” ballot at ToyHallOfFame.org.
The National Toy Hall of Fame receives thousands of nominations each year. The three finalists receiving the most public votes will join the three top selections submitted by members of the 23-member National Selection Advisory Committee. The public collectively counts as one member of the committee.
The final 2026 inductees will be announced by The Strong National Museum of Play in early November.
Toys are considered for induction based on four criteria: icon status, longevity, discovery and innovation. The hall recognizes toys that have engaged and entertained multiple generations.
The National Toy Hall of Fame has inducted 90 toys to date, including Barbie, LEGO, Monopoly, Play-Doh, Slinky, teddy bear, Hot Wheels, Rubik’s Cube, Nintendo Game Boy, Uno and Wiffle Ball.
