AUGUSTA, N.J. (Sussex County) — Sussex County will honor local veterans during its 26th annual Salute to Military Veterans Parade on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta.
The annual tribute will begin at 1 p.m. in the Richards Building and will recognize veterans from all branches of the U.S. military.
The program will include a parade featuring veterans, military vehicles, civic groups, community bands and local high school bands.
The event will also feature the reading of essays written by local students, a solemn remembrance for prisoners of war and those missing in action, and a 21-gun salute by members of the Ogdensburg VFW.
Members of the Sussex County Board of County Commissioners will present commemorative pins to veterans in attendance.
The annual event is intended to recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by military veterans and their families. Refreshments will be provided following the program.
The event is organized by the Sussex County Board of County Commissioners, Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior Services and Veterans Committee.
