14-year-old dies after skateboard fall in Morris County

PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A 14-year-old boy died after falling from a skateboard and striking his head on the pavement Friday evening in Pequannock Township, according to police.

Pequannock Township police said emergency personnel responded at about 5:46 p.m. to the area of Hopper Avenue and Woodland Court for a report of an injured juvenile.

First responders found a 14-year-old boy who had suffered a head injury. Preliminary information indicates the boy was riding a skateboard when he fell and struck his head on the pavement, police said.

First responders immediately provided medical treatment at the scene before the boy was transported to Morristown Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

Police said the boy’s identity will not be released because of laws protecting the privacy of juvenile victims and out of respect for his family.

The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
