
Gatorade products recalled in New Jersey, dozens of states over undeclared food dyes
NEW JERSEY — PepsiCo Inc., based in Purchase, New York, is voluntarily recalling more than 122,000 cases of certain Gatorade products distributed in New Jersey and dozens of other states because they may contain undeclared food dyes, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall involves 28-ounce bottles of Gatorade Lemon Lime, Gatorade Lemon Lime Zero, Gatorade Orange and Gatorade Orange Zero.
According to the FDA, the products may contain undeclared Yellow No. 6 and/or Yellow No. 5.
The recall covers 122,021 cases and was initiated by PepsiCo on Sept. 25. The FDA classified the recall on Oct. 2 as Class II.
A Class II recall means use of or exposure to a product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences, or that the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote, according to the FDA.

The recalled Gatorade was distributed in New Jersey as well as Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.
The FDA lists the recall as ongoing.
