Mountain Lake cleanup scheduled Wednesday to remove dead plant material
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — The Mountain Lake Community Association is organizing a cleanup effort Wednesday, Oct. 14, to remove large clumps of dead plant material from the southwest cove of Mountain Lake in Liberty Township.
According to the association, Jason Hall of Northern Lights will use a Weedoo aquatic harvesting machine to remove as much accumulated plant material as possible from the cove throughout the day.
The project is being organized and funded by the Mountain Lake Community Association as part of its ongoing lakewide campaign to improve water quality and access by removing invasive plants and dead vegetation.
The association said the southwest cove has been particularly affected by large clumps of dead water lily roots.
During the cleanup, the aquatic harvesting machine will collect the material and transport it to the boat launch, where it will be placed in a dump trailer provided by Gary Anzalone.
A pickup truck provided by Art Addie will then be used to transport the collected material to a local farm for composting.
The association said additional volunteers may be needed throughout the day, particularly to assist with transporting the material to the farm.
Anyone interested in helping can contact Bob at 401-788-0085, email MLCA@mt-lake.org or stop by the boat launch Wednesday.
The Mountain Lake Community Association said the cleanup is made possible through the support of its members and is part of its continuing efforts to improve conditions throughout the lake.
