Amtrak, Crayola launch family-focused travel partnership for summer season

Savings for children and crayon-inspired locomotive designs inspire summer travel

Amtrak and Crayola have teamed up just in time for the summer travel season, offering families colorful incentives and creative experiences designed to spark imagination and make travel more memorable.

The partnership includes exclusive deals for children and eye-catching locomotive designs featuring classic Crayola crayon colors, all part of an effort to combine the magic of train travel with the hands-on fun of Crayola’s interactive attractions.

“This newly minted partnership with Crayola arrives just in time for the summer travel season,” said Jessica Davidson, Amtrak’s vice president of digital and brand marketing. “We’re excited to foster extraordinary journeys and inspire creativity across America.”

Kids travel free and colorfully play

Families heading to Florida can take advantage of a special offer on Amtrak’s Auto Train. Through Aug. 31, 2025, children can travel for free in Coach Class or First Class private rooms between Lorton, Virginia, and Sanford, Florida. A three-day advance purchase is required.

Additionally, with any Amtrak child ticket, families can receive free admission to Crayola Experience locations in Easton, Pennsylvania; Mall of America in Minnesota; Orlando, Florida; and Plano, Texas. The offer is available for travel between May 8 and Aug. 31, and travelers must show a valid child ticket at Crayola Experience check-in counters for free entry through Sept. 30.

Colorful trains debut along Northeast Corridor

Two ACS-64 Sprinter electric locomotives are now wrapped in Crayola-themed designs and will travel along Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor from Washington, D.C., to Boston. One locomotive features Violet Blue and showcases eight recently unretired crayon colors—a first in Crayola’s 122-year history. The second is adorned in Dandelion yellow and highlights “Dan D,” Crayola’s Ambassador of Creativity.

Each locomotive features the phrase “Creativity on the Go!” as a nod to the partnership and a reminder to travelers of all ages to bring their imagination along for the ride.

“This collaboration commemorates the colorful and creative impact these colors have had on generations of consumers,” said Anna Roca, head of global partnerships and promotions for Crayola. “It celebrates the enduring value of childhood creativity and inspires creative moments for our fans.”
