Basement fire in Warren County draws multi-agency response; no injuries reported

ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — A basement fire in Allamuchy early Wednesday prompted a multi-department response, with crews working for several hours to bring the blaze under control, authorities said.

The Allamuchy Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 4:16 a.m. to the area of Ervey Road near Hedden Road for a reported structure fire.

After receiving updated information from Warren County Communications, the assistant chief requested a first alarm assignment and a tanker task force.

An Allamuchy fire captain arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke coming from the structure, confirming a working basement fire. An assistant chief then established command as firefighters began operations.

Crews advanced a handline into the basement to locate and extinguish the fire, officials said. Access to the basement was limited and the stairwell had been compromised, but firefighters were able to knock down the bulk of the flames.

Mutual aid departments assisted with suppression and support operations. Firefighters from Green Township and Hackettstown stretched a second hose line and helped extinguish the fire, while Budd Lake crews conducted ventilation. Hope Volunteer Fire Department assisted with overhaul operations, and Netcong Fire Company No. 1 provided a rapid intervention team as crews worked on scene.

Units cleared the scene at about 8:30 a.m.

According to a New Jersey State Police spokesperson, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and no additional information was immediately available.
