Boonton Township Police investigate reports of mail theft, fraud

BOONTON TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Boonton Township Police are investigating after reports of mail theft, resulting in fraud.

On the morning of Wednesday, July 3, police received a report of suspicious activity in the area of Kingsland Road. When officers arrived on scene, numerous mailboxes were opened and empty, police said.

Later in the day, police received several complaints of fraudulent activity related to credit and bank cards which were sent in the mail, police said.

Anyone with cameras in the area of Oak Road or Kingsland Road and its side streets, which may have captured suspicious activity prior to 9:00 a.m. is asked to contact the Boonton Township Detective Bureau at 973-402-4022 or email footage to pricciardi@btpolice.org.
