Centenary Stage Company announces auditions for 2026 summer repertory season
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Warren County) — Centenary Stage Company will hold auditions later this month for its NEXTstage Repertory 2026 Summer Season, featuring productions of “The Wedding Singer” and “Maltby & Shire’s Closer Than Ever.”
Auditions are scheduled for Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lackland Performing Arts Center on the campus of Centenary University. A dance call will be held from 4:40 to 5:30 p.m. by invitation only.
The company is seeking non-Equity singers and actors for roles in both productions. Organizers said performers of all backgrounds are encouraged to audition as part of the company’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity in the performing arts.
To schedule an audition appointment, call the box office at 908-979-0900. Walk-ins will be seen as time permits, so advance reservations are encouraged.
Video submissions will also be accepted, though casting preference will be given to those who audition in person. Submissions should be sent via email with the subject line including the performer’s name and “CSC Summer 2026 Casting,” along with roles of interest listed in the message.
Auditioning performers are asked to prepare 16 to 32 bars of a contemporary musical theater selection and bring a headshot and resume. Those invited to the dance call should be prepared with appropriate attire.
“The Wedding Singer,” based on the 1998 film, will run from July 9 through July 19. The production features music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy.
The musical includes roles such as Robbie Hart, a wedding band singer; Julia Sullivan, a waitress; and Holly, Julia’s outspoken cousin, along with several supporting and ensemble roles.
“Closer Than Ever,” with music by David Shire and lyrics by Richard Maltby Jr., will run from July 30 through Aug. 9. The production calls for a cast of eight singers across a range of ages.
The summer repertory season is part of Centenary Stage Company’s NEXTstage program and will include limited housing and stipends depending on casting.
