Chief Dean Adone retires after 25 years of service with Roxbury Township Police Department

ROXBURY TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – On Friday, friends, family, and colleagues gathered to honor Chief Dean Adone as he retired after 25 years of dedicated service to the Roxbury Township Police Department.

Chief Adone’s law enforcement career began with the NYPD before he transferred to Roxbury Township, where he was hired on March 15, 1999, and graduated from the New Jersey State Police Academy as part of Municipal Class 199.

Over the years, Chief Adone held various pivotal roles, including becoming a Field Training Officer in 2006, responsible for training new officers. In 2010, he was promoted to Corporal and, in 2011, transferred to the Detective Bureau. His strong work ethic and decision-making abilities led to his promotion to Detective Sergeant in 2014, followed by a swift promotion to Lieutenant.

In 2021, Chief Adone was appointed as Chief of Police. During his tenure, he reorganized the department’s administrative structure, creating new leadership positions such as Captain and Lieutenant. Chief Adone prioritized training to strengthen the foundation of the police department, providing officers with additional opportunities for growth. He also placed a strong emphasis on wellness and mental health within the department, ensuring a supportive environment for his team.

The Roxbury Township Police Department and the entire community express their deep gratitude to Chief Adone for his unwavering commitment and leadership over the past 25 years.
