Commissioners honor Joseph Colalillo, President of ShopRite of Hunterdon County, for community leadership and generosity

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – The Hunterdon County Commissioners recently presented Joseph Colalillo, President of ShopRite of Hunterdon County, with a proclamation recognizing his exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to the supermarket industry and the community.

Colalillo was recently honored with the prestigious Sidney R. Rabb Award for Statesmanship by the Food Industry Association (FMI).

Commissioner Director John Lanza spoke on behalf of the Board, saying, “Recognizing the achievements of individuals and teams in our community is one of the most rewarding aspects of public service. Joseph Colalillo’s dedication to excellence, steadfast service to our community, and leadership as a business owner exemplify the very best of Hunterdon County, and it is an honor to celebrate his achievements and contributions.”

A second-generation grocer, Colalillo served as Chairman and CEO of Wakefern Food Corp. from 2005 to 2023, overseeing five ShopRite locations in New Jersey and Pennsylvania with over 1,300 associates. The FMI award recognizes his excellence in serving consumers and supporting the community.

Under Colalillo’s leadership, ShopRite of Hunterdon County has made significant contributions to the community, including the annual ShopRite Partners In Caring initiative, the Run for Hunger 5K, and support for various local food banks and schools.

His commitment to collaboration and mentoring the next generation of food industry professionals has earned him widespread respect and admiration.

The Board of County Commissioners extends their congratulations to Joseph Colalillo on this well-deserved recognition and wishes him and his family continued success.

Born and raised in Northwest NJ, Jay has a degree in Communications and has had a life-long interest in local radio and various styles of music.
