Commissioners recognize Hunterdon County Medical Reserve Corps on their 20th anniversary

HUNTERDON COUNTY, NJ – Members from the Hunterdon County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Tuesday were presented with a proclamation from the County Commissioners in recognition of their 20th anniversary and ongoing dedication and service to the community.

“The Hunterdon County Medical Reserve Corps has been instrumental in our community’s response to numerous public health challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Their commitment and self-less service have made a profound impact on our ability to respond effectively to emergencies,” Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl said.

The MRC is a national network of more than 300,000 volunteers organized locally to improve the health and safety of their communities. The Hunterdon County Medical Reserve Corps Unit includes over 150 healthcare professional and community volunteers who live or work in Hunterdon County and is one of 24 MRC Units in New Jersey.

Over the past 20 years, trained MRC volunteers have assisted the County Health Department by providing health screenings, vaccinations, translation services, and community health education. Additionally, over the years many volunteers have participated in public health preparedness trainings and activities.

During the COVID pandemic, MRC volunteers courageously served the community by contributing over 7,000 hours assisting the Health Department in the collection of specimens at the test site, fielding questions from callers on the COVID Hotline, and providing vaccinations and support services at the Hunterdon County vaccine clinics.

“We are grateful to the Medical Reserve Corps volunteers for their hard work and dedication to promoting health and safety for our residents. Their work exemplifies the best of our community, and we are honored to celebrate this milestone with them,” Kuhl said.
