Congressman Kean hosts annual Seniors of Distinction event

BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ (Somerset County) – Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) Friday hosted his second annual Seniors of Distinction event at the Bridgewater Township Senior Center, to honor outstanding seniors in the community.

Congressman Kean honored 29 seniors, who represent all six counties in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. Each senior was nominated by their friends, families, and neighbors and recognized at the event.

The seniors who were selected were chosen for their long history of giving back to their community and for continuing to lend their expertise, experience and many talents to helping and supporting others today. Every honoree has a long list of achievements but more important, a long list of professional, philanthropic, charitable, and spiritual activities to which they devote their time and energy to every day.

“All the seniors honored dedicate their talents, passions and experience toward enriching the well-being of New Jersey communities,” Kean said. “Their impressive achievements and extensive involvement in both professional and volunteer activities reflect their dedication and hard work. I extend my warmest congratulations to all the seniors recognized today and thank them for their tireless efforts to uplift our communities.”

What I find particularly moving and positive is that an event like this highlight good community efforts at a time where the world needs that kind of motivation,” said Elisa Sananman of Westfield, 2024 Senior of Distinction Honoree. “It is very affirming to all the work that we are doing. Very personally and professionally motivating. With appreciation that it was originated.”

“I knew nothing about this award until I received a letter from the Congressman Kean in the mail,” said Edna Deacon of Mine Hill, 2024 Senior of Distinction Honoree. “I was very impressed. I would like to thank the Congressman for the invitation and Bill Koroski for nominating me.”
