Congressman Kean now accepting applicants for Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Tom Kean, Jr. (NJ-07) Monday announced that his office is seeking a Veteran, Gold Star family member, or Active-Duty spouse for a paid, two-year position through the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program.

The selected candidate will serve as a district representative, attending local veteran events and meetings on behalf of Congressman Kean while acting a liaison between constituents and government agencies such as the VA and Department of Defense at the federal, state, and local levels.

The Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program (G&G CAP) was created to offer eligible individuals with meaningful employment opportunities within the U.S. House of Representatives. This two-year program provides hands-on experience and professional exposure to help expand career prospects.

“This is an exciting opportunity for my office to take part in the Green and Gold Congressional Aide Program,” said Kean. “With tens of thousands of veterans residing across New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District, I am committed to strengthening the resources available to them. From the Lyons Center to the VA Cap Center, this role will be vital in supporting those who have served our nation. Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria as outlines by G&G CAP: 

Veterans: 

  • Honorably discharged 
  • Released from active duty within the last six years 
  • Pay grades at or below E-5/O-3/W-2 
  • Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program 

Gold Star Families 

  • A surviving spouse, child/step-child, parent/step-parent, or sibling/step-sibling of a veteran who died: In the line of duty while serving in the Armed Forces or from a service-connected disability 

Active-Duty Spouses: 

  • Must be the spouse of an Active-Duty service member. Active-Duty service members work for the military full-time and are subject to permanent change of station or permanent change of assignment orders upon completion of each tour of duty. 
    • Those subject to Title X mobilization are not eligible
