Detached garage destroyed in Hunterdon County fire

HIGH BRIDGE BOROUGH, N.J. (Hunterdon County0 — A detached garage and a vehicle were destroyed in a fire Saturday night in High Bridge, but firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to a nearby home, according to the High Bridge Fire Department.

The department said firefighters were dispatched just before 11 p.m. for a reported structure fire with possible extension to a nearby residence and a vehicle.

Upon arrival, the incident commander confirmed a fully involved detached garage fire that had also engulfed one vehicle.

The first arriving crews immediately began attacking the fire while additional firefighters established a water supply from a nearby hydrant. Crews also worked to protect the nearby residence and checked the home for any fire extension.

Firefighters remained on scene for about an hour before clearing the incident shortly after midnight.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was not immediately released.

The High Bridge Fire Department thanked its mutual aid partners for assisting at the scene, including the Annandale Hose Company, Clinton Fire Department, Lebanon Borough Fire Company, Quakertown Fire Company, Califon Fire Company, Lebanon Township Fire Department and South Branch Emergency Services.
