Dog rescued after falling through thin ice at Sun Ridge Pond in Hunterdon County

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – A dog was rescued Thursday afternoon after falling through thin ice at Sun Ridge Pond in Raritan Township.

On February 6, at 3:08 p.m., the Flemington-Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad was dispatched for a water rescue at Sun Ridge Pond, located at Sun Ridge Drive and Hart Blvd. The call was made after a dog had fallen through thin ice on the pond.

Two rescue personnel, equipped with appropriate protective gear, ventured onto the ice and quickly rescued the small dog. The dog was safely reunited with its owner and was reported to be warming up and recovering rapidly after the rescue.

As the situation was resolved, the remaining units, including Lambertville Fire Department, South Branch Emergency Services, and Raritan Township Fire Company, were canceled. The Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad units were back in service within approximately fifteen minutes.
