Driver injured after SUV rear-ends tractor-trailer on I-287 in Passaic County

WANAQUE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Passaic County) — A driver was injured Monday morning when an SUV rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Interstate 287 in Wanaque Township, according to New Jersey State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash at 10:36 a.m. on I-287 south near milepost 56.8 in Wanaque Township, State Police spokesperson Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.

A preliminary investigation found that a Mazda SUV and a Freightliner tractor-trailer were both traveling south when the Mazda struck the rear of the truck.

The driver of the Mazda sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital, Postorino said.

The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available.
