LEBANON BOROUGH, NJ (Hunterdon County) — A North Brunswick man was seriously injured following a fiery crash on Interstate 78 in Hunterdon County Monday evening, according to New Jersey State Police spokesperson Sergeant Jeffrey Lebron.
The single-vehicle crash occurred around 7:26 p.m. on I-78 East at milepost 20.4 in Lebanon Borough, Lebron said.
A preliminary police investigation revealed that a Honda Civic driven by 42-year-old William McCabe was traveling eastbound on I-78 when, in the area of milepost 20.4, the vehicle veered off the roadway to the left, struck a guardrail, overturned, collided with several trees, and became engulfed in flames, Lebron said.
As a result of the crash, McCabe sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to an area hospital, Lebron said.
The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information was available, Lebron added.
