DWI checkpoint scheduled in Mount Olive Township this weekend
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A driving while intoxicated checkpoint will be conducted in Mount Olive Township this weekend as part of an ongoing effort to identify impaired drivers and promote roadway safety, according to the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Chief of Detectives Mark Castellano and Mount Olive Township Police Chief Michael Cordileone announced that the joint DWI checkpoint is scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25.
Law enforcement personnel from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Mount Olive Township Police Department will conduct the checkpoint. Officials did not specify the exact location or hours of operation.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, sobriety checkpoints are funded through grants provided by the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety. The funding allows the Prosecutor’s Office to coordinate DWI enforcement checkpoints with municipal police departments throughout Morris County.
The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office has conducted similar sobriety checkpoints in various municipalities across the county and plans to continue organizing them in the future with advance public notice.
