Fire damages Morris County floral shop, apartments

MINE HILL TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) — Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in Mine Hill Township Saturday morning.

The fire occurred at around 8:46 a.m. at a commercial structure in the 100 block of Route 46 that houses Party Flower Florist and six apartments, according to Wharton Borough Police Captain William Hamilton. Wharton Borough Police cover Mine Hill.

“Fire was located in the first-floor business with extension into the second-floor apartments. Multiple residents were reported to be trapped on the second and third floors and quickly evacuated with the assistance of fire dept. personnel,” according to the Mine Hill Township Fire Department.

Approximately 15 residents have been displaced. The florist shop also sustained water damage, Hamilton told RNJ.

No injuries have been reported, Hamilton said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Hamilton stated.
