Firefighters battle structure fire in Hunterdon County amid freezing conditions
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Firefighters battled a structure fire in Hunterdon County on Sunday night, facing freezing conditions and remote location challenges.
On Sunday, Dec. 22, at 10:51 p.m., the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad, along with the Raritan Township Fire Company and several mutual aid agencies, responded to a reported structure fire on Cross Creek Drive in Raritan Township.
The call came in as a possible fire in the wall, and first-arriving units confirmed a working structure fire.
The firefighting efforts were complicated by extremely cold weather, the remote location of the property, and the need for water shuttle operations. Crews worked tirelessly into the early morning hours to gain control of the blaze.
The Rescue Squad units cleared the scene around 2:30 a.m., but crews returned later that morning and throughout the day to extinguish remaining hot spots.
