Firefighters extinguish chimney fire at Hunterdon County home

WEST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Fire crews responded to a chimney fire at a home on Mount Airy Harbourton Road on Saturday evening, according to the West Amwell Fire Company.

The call came in around 5:25 p.m. for a reported chimney fire in the 200 block of the roadway. The first arriving officer confirmed the fire and established command.

Firefighters entered the home to investigate while a ladder truck was positioned and a water supply was established. Additional units from mutual aid departments arrived to support operations.

Crews deployed chimney chains to clear the flue and checked the area around the chimney, where they found fire in the surrounding structure. Firefighters opened that area and extinguished the flames, bringing the incident under control within an hour, officials said.

West Amwell police managed traffic at the scene, and a BLS unit stood by. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials thanked their mutual aid partners for their assistance.
