Florham Park DWI checkpoint planned June 27-29 in memory of Tim and Bridget O’Donnell

FLORHAM PARK BOROUGH, N.J. (Morris County) — A joint DWI checkpoint will be conducted in Florham Park the weekend of June 27 through June 29 to honor the memory of Tim and Bridget O’Donnell, local law enforcement officials announced.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Chief of Detectives Robert McNally and Florham Park Police Chief Joseph Orlando said personnel from the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office and Florham Park Police Department will staff the checkpoint at a not-to-be-disclosed location.

The operation is part of an ongoing effort to deter impaired and distracted driving. It was inspired in part by an awareness campaign launched by Pam O’Donnell — Tim’s wife and Bridget’s mother — to educate the public about the dangers of such behavior following the deaths of her husband and daughter.

The checkpoint is funded through grants from the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.

Officials said DWI checkpoints remain an important tool to protect the public from the continuing dangers of impaired and distracted drivers. The Prosecutor’s Office plans to continue such operations in coordination with municipal departments across Morris County.
