Four Atlantic Health hospitals earn ‘A’ grades in Fall 2025 Leapfrog safety report

Four Atlantic Health System medical centers received top marks for patient safety in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2025 Hospital Safety Grades, the organization announced this week.

Atlantic Health’s Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center and Newton Medical Center all earned an “A,” reflecting strong performance across dozens of patient safety metrics.

Morristown Medical Center continued its decade-long streak, maintaining an “A” grade every cycle since Fall 2015. Overlook Medical Center also continued its strong performance, upholding its “A” record dating back to Spring 2021.

Atlantic Health CentraState Medical Center, while not yet at the top tier, was recognized for “significant strides,” earning a “B” as it continues improving under the system’s leadership.

“Atlantic Heath’s unwavering commitment to quality and safety is our promise to patients, and we are proud to see it reflected in this national recognition,” said Saad Ehtisham, president and CEO of Atlantic Health. “Thank you to every physician, nurse, caregiver, and team member across our system, who each play an integral role in creating healing environments where patient wellbeing is always the top priority.”

Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, praised the system’s performance. “Earning an ‘A’ grade means Atlantic Health has made a true commitment to put patient safety first,” she said. “We congratulate the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers that all had a role to play in this achievement.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the nation’s only ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. Grades, which are peer-reviewed and free to the public, are issued twice a year.
