Garage fire in Morris County deemed non-suspicious

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A fire broke out in the attached garage of a residence in the Flanders section of Mount Olive Township on Feb. 5, authorities said.

Police received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 2:43 p.m. reporting a possible structure fire on Jocynda Road. Responding officers observed heavy smoke and flames coming from the attached garage upon arrival.

Two people were evacuated from the residence without incident, police said.

The Flanders Fire Department and Budd Lake Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The Morris County Tanker Task Force and Atlantic EMS also assisted at the scene.

The Mount Olive Police Investigations Division, in coordination with the Mount Olive Fire Marshal’s Office, is investigating the cause of the fire, which authorities said started at the rear of the garage. The fire is deemed non-suspicious at this time.
