Generator fire damages Hunterdon County home

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A generator fire spread into the attic of a Delaware Township home Saturday evening, prompting a response from multiple fire departments that battled the blaze for more than two hours in extreme heat, according to the Delaware Township Fire Company.

Firefighters were dispatched just before 7 p.m. to Dogwood Drive for a reported generator fire.

The first arriving units found a working house fire and immediately began attacking the flames while additional apparatus responded to the scene.

A neighboring fire department that was already returning from another incident arrived shortly afterward and assisted with fire suppression.

Firefighters were able to quickly contain the fire to the attic, preventing it from spreading throughout the home. However, extensive overhaul operations were required to extinguish remaining hot spots and ensure the fire was fully out.

Crews from the Delaware Township Fire Company worked alongside multiple mutual aid departments for just over two hours in temperatures near 100 degrees before bringing the fire under control.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was not immediately released.
