Gottheimer issues statement on President Trump’s first day in office

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) issued the following statement after President Trump’s first day in office:

“Last night, President Trump took a series of executive actions that will undermine environmental protections and our global climate leadership, making our country less safe. He even pardoned 1,500 individuals who attacked our brave police officers with an American flagpole in an effort to undermine our democracy and freedom.

These actions fall far short of addressing the real needs of our nation. They do nothing to lower costs for New Jersey families and only serve to deepen divisions with hate and fear.

From the start, I have said that I will work with anyone to make life more affordable for families in New Jersey.

But let me be clear: as President Trump begins his second term, I will always stand up whenever he attacks our Jersey values.”
