Hopatcong police offer a ‘sweet’ Valentine’s Day special: Turn in your ex for a date with justice

HOPATCONG BOROUGH, NJ (Sussex County) – This Valentine’s Day, the Hopatcong Police Department is offering an unusual yet enticing special, aimed at cleaning up the streets while adding a little humor to the holiday.

Once again, officers are reminding residents: if your ex is involved in illegal activity or has outstanding warrants, they could be getting an unexpected date with law enforcement.

On Friday, February 14th, anyone who knows the whereabouts of an ex-Valentine who buys or sells illegal drugs, or has warrants out for their arrest, is encouraged to call the Hopatcong Police at 973-398-5000. Officers promise to take care of the rest, and would be more than happy to “spend the day” with those who’ve strayed from the law.

“Yes, gentlemen, this is a subtle reminder for you, too,” the department playfully adds. The department is even teasing that the offer is too sweet to pass up, knowing that some might be tempted to provide additional referrals.

“Operators are standing by,” they quip, making it clear that this Valentine’s Day offer is the perfect opportunity to “celebrate” justice while enjoying a little fun at the same time.
