
Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair kicked off its 101st opening ceremony with commissioners, legislators
EAST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ (Hunterdon County) – Last Wednesday, members of the Board of Commissioners along with County Clerk Mary Melfi, Sheriff Fred Brown, Surrogate Heidi Rohrbach, Prosecutor Renée Robeson, and President/CEO of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce Chris Phelan were joined by Congressman Tom Kean Jr., Senator Andrew Zwicker, Assemblyman Erik Peterson, Assemblyman Roy Freiman, and Assembly Minority Leader, John DiMaio, for the opening ceremonies to the ‘2024 4-H & Agricultural Fair’, at South County Park, Route 179 in East Amwell Township.
“The 4-H & Agricultural Fair is a fun celebration of Hunterdon County’s farming heritage including, livestock shows, musical entertainment, rides, great food and numerous exhibits for families and visitors to enjoy. The Board encourages residents and visitors to come out and enjoy everything Hunterdon County has to offer,” said Commissioner Director Jeff Kuhl.
As part of the opening ceremony, Director Kuhl presented a proclamation to Lauren Jarowicz, the 2024 New Jersey Agricultural Fair Ambassador. Ms. Jarowicz is a long-time member of various agricultural organizations within 4-H, and believes strongly in promoting agriculture to the public, and bringing people together to support the state’s farmers.
“The 4-H & Agricultural Fair is long standing event that has been celebrated in Hunterdon County for many generations. It is exciting for both residents and visitors, and a great representation of the County’s rich farming heritage and the importance that agriculture plays to Hunterdon’s quality of life,” said Deputy Director Susan Soloway.
The 2024 Hunterdon County 4-H & Agricultural Fair ran from August 21- 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday August 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. A Fireworks display was held on Friday, August 23.
In addition to 4-H Club displays, the Fair also featured acrobatic shows, various local bands, magic demonstrations, exotic animal displays and the ever-popular tractor pull event.
