HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — Hunterdon County is advancing a series of technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, emergency communications and digital service improvements, county officials announced at the Aug. 18 Board of Commissioners meeting.

Commissioner Susan Soloway, liaison to the Department of Information Technology, highlighted several recently completed and ongoing projects, including upgrades to the county’s 911 system security, cybersecurity training, communications infrastructure and website.

“I am pleased to see the progress being made across the Department of Information Technology,” said Commissioner Soloway. “These projects represent important investments in the systems and infrastructure that support County operations every day, while also improving the way residents access information and services. Among the completed projects is a refresh of the county’s 911 firewall, designed to upgrade the security and reliability of its emergency communications infrastructure.

Countywide cybersecurity training is also underway to provide employees with knowledge and tools to help protect county systems, information and digital resources.

The Information Technology Department has also completed development of the ServiceNow application and the Route 12 Conduit and Fiber Project. County officials said the Route 12 project provides greater reliability and connectivity between county facilities.

“Technology continues to play an important role in how County government serves our residents,” Soloway said. “From emergency communications and cybersecurity to reliable connectivity and online services, these improvements help ensure Hunterdon County has the infrastructure needed to meet today’s needs while preparing for the future.”

The department also completed a refresh of the Hunterdon County website. The redesigned website features an updated appearance, improved functionality and a more mobile-friendly experience across computers, tablets and smartphones.

County officials said the website improvements are intended to make it easier for residents and visitors to find information, connect with departments and access programs and services online.

Soloway also recognized the Information Technology staff for managing the projects while continuing to provide daily technology support throughout county government.

“Our IT team works behind the scenes every day to keep County operations connected, secure, and running effectively,” Soloway said. “Their hard work and dedication often go unseen by the public, but they are critical to nearly every service County government provides. I want to thank the entire team for their outstanding work and continued commitment to Hunterdon County.”
