Hunterdon County honors Delaware Valley basketball, wrestling champions
HUNTERDON COUNTY, N.J. — The Hunterdon County Board of County Commissioners recognized two Delaware Valley Regional High School teams for their championship seasons during its March 17 meeting.
Proclamations were presented to the school’s boys basketball and wrestling teams in honor of their recent titles.
The boys basketball team was recognized for winning the 2026 Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament Championship, defeating Hunterdon Central High School 69-62 on Feb. 20. Officials said the win marked the program’s first H/W/S Tournament title.
The wrestling team was honored for capturing the 2026 New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Group 1 State Championship. Delaware Valley secured the title Feb. 22 with a 65-8 victory over Emerson-Park Ridge, earning the program’s 12th state championship.
“These student-athletes have demonstrated outstanding dedication, teamwork, and perseverance throughout their seasons,” said Commissioner Director John E. Lanza. “Their success reflects the strong support of their coaches, families, and school community, and they have brought great pride to Hunterdon County.”
Commissioners also highlighted the role of athletics in promoting teamwork, discipline and leadership among students.
Officials extended congratulations to the athletes, coaches and families and wished both teams continued success.
