RARITAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — Hunterdon Medical Center has been named to the 2025-26 New Jersey Influenza Honor Roll, recognizing the hospital’s employee influenza vaccination program and high vaccination compliance rates.
The New Jersey Department of Health established the Influenza Honor Roll in 2017 to recognize organizations that promote influenza awareness and prevention. Hunterdon Medical Center was one of 11 healthcare facilities recognized this year and has earned a place on the honor roll every year since 2018.
Hospital officials said 99% of employees, licensed independent practitioners and volunteers received a flu vaccine during the 2025-26 influenza season.
“We are very proud that the percentage of all staff (employees, licensed independent practitioners, and volunteers) that received the flu vaccine at Hunterdon Health was 99% in the 2025-2026 season. This percentage surpassed the most recent NJ reported adherence percentage of only 94% and the national reported adherence percentage of only 78%. In fact, since implementing our mandatory flu vaccine program in 2013-2014, our vaccination compliance has always exceeded these benchmarks,” explained Lisa Rasimowicz, MSN, RN, CIC, CPPS, Chief Quality Officer, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Nursing Epidemiology and Stroke Program, Hunterdon Health.
The Influenza Honor Roll recognizes institutions of education, businesses, community-based organizations and medical facilities that demonstrate a commitment to influenza prevention.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, influenza is a contagious respiratory illness that can cause mild to severe illness and, in some cases, lead to hospitalization or death. Annual vaccination is considered the most effective way to reduce the risk of infection and help protect people at greater risk of serious illness, including older adults, young children, pregnant women and individuals with certain chronic health conditions.
Hunterdon Health said it has maintained vaccination rates above both state and national benchmarks since implementing its mandatory employee influenza vaccination program during the 2013-14 flu season.
