I-80 westbound Exit 25 ramp to Route 206 northbound to close Friday night in Mount Olive
MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — The ramp from Interstate 80 westbound to Route 206 northbound will be closed overnight Friday in Mount Olive Township for drainage repairs, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation.
The closure of I-80 westbound Exit 25 to Route 206 northbound will begin at 9 p.m. Friday, March 6, and continue until 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7.
NJDOT officials said the closure is necessary to replace drainage pipes and repair roadway inlets as part of ongoing maintenance work.
During the closure, motorists traveling westbound on I-80 who intend to take Exit 25 to Route 206 northbound will be directed to continue on I-80 westbound and follow a detour route.
Drivers will be instructed to take Exit 19 to County Route 517 toward Hackettstown, Allamuchy and Andover, stay left at the end of the ramp to turn onto CR 517, then take the ramp to I-80 eastbound toward Dover before exiting again at Exit 25 to Route 206 northbound toward Stanhope and Newton.
The work is part of a $12 million state-funded maintenance project aimed at improving drainage systems at multiple locations across Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren counties.
NJDOT said variable message signs will be posted to alert motorists of traffic pattern changes during the work.
Officials noted that the schedule could change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check www.511nj.org for real-time travel updates.
