Independence Township hires Class III officer for Great Meadows Regional School district campus

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — Independence Township police announced the hiring of a Class III special officer who will be assigned to the Great Meadows Regional School District campus, adding an additional layer of security for students and staff.

Officer Christopher Wojtach was sworn in on Nov. 10 during a township meeting and officially began his assignment on Dec. 1, according to the department.

Police said the addition of a Class III officer is intended to strengthen school safety and enhance on-campus security operations. The department also expressed appreciation to parents who supported the program over the past several years, as well as to school administrators who worked with police to bring the initiative to fruition.
