Independence Township Volunteer Fire Department to host first Halloween 5K, open house
INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Warren County) — The Independence Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold its first Halloween 5K Run/Walk and an open house Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Field of Dreams in Great Meadows.
The 5K is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the Field of Dreams, located across from the firehouse at 24 Cemetery Road.
Participants can run or walk the course, and Halloween costumes are encouraged. The event is open to all ages and is intended to support the township’s volunteer firefighters.
Registration is $40, with the price scheduled to increase after Oct. 1.
Following the race, the fire department will hold an open house featuring fire truck tours and demonstrations, opportunities to meet local firefighters, food and beverages and family-friendly activities.
Visitors will also have an opportunity to explore the firehouse and learn more about the department.
