Lindbergh lecture series, exhibit set for September at Hunterdon County historic courthouse

“The Circus Returns to Flemington: A Photographic and Memorabilia Exhibit of the Lindbergh Trial”

FLEMINGTON, NJ (Hunterdon County) – The Hunterdon County Board of Commissioner have announced an upcoming series of lectures and an exhibit that will be offered next month, featuring details about the famous Lindberg kidnapping and trial – an event that turned downtown Flemington into a ‘circus’ over a period of five weeks in 1935.

The Hunterdon County 300th Committee in partnership with the Hunterdon County Cultural and Heritage Commission and Hunterdon County Historical Society will offer this new series of six lectures over two weekends in the month of September.

Commissioner Zach Rich, who also serves as the liaison to the Cultural and Heritage Commission, said, “The Lindbergh trial left an enduring mark on Flemington, forever connecting the town to this historic event. The recently restored History Courthouse is the perfect location for this exhibit and lecture series. I encourage residents to come out and experience the fun of learning more about the details of our past.”

Famously known as the “Trial of the Century”, the Lindbergh exhibit will feature a large photographic and memorabilia display of never seen public trial relics, courtesy of a collection assembled by noted speaker, James Davidson, a former Hunterdon County history teacher and Cultural & Heritage Commissioner who has authored books and studied the Lindbergh kidnapping for over 30 years.

The exhibit will be on view during the month of September in the first-floor galleries of the newly renovated Hunterdon County Historic Courthouse and Jail, where the Lindbergh trial took place.
