Man accused of stealing cooking oil from Morris County pizzeria

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, NJ (Morris County) – Police have arrested a man they say stole cooking oil from a pizzeria in Mount Olive Township.

On March 8, at 10:16 a.m., an officer was checking the area for a report of a suspect driving a white van who was attempting to take cooking oil from businesses. The officer located a van matching the description behind Frank’s Pizza at the Mall at 206, 244 Route 206, in the Flanders section of the township, police said.

The driver of the van was actively pumping oil from the pizzeria’s tank when the officer stopped the vehicle as the driver tried to drive away. The driver was identified as Nyreek Loyal, 29, of Somerset, NJ, police said.

During the investigation, it was determined that Loyal did not have permission to take the cooking oil. He was arrested, charged with theft of movable property, and released pending a court appearance.
