Man charged after loaded handgun found in Morris County hotel room

MOUNT OLIVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A North Carolina man has been charged after a loaded handgun was discovered inside a Budd Lake hotel room, police said.

Authorities responded to the Baymont by Wyndham Hotel, 102 Route 46, around 1:08 p.m. on Oct. 25, after cleaning staff reported finding a firearm in a guest room.

Police said the weapon, a Glock handgun, was found loaded with a 15-round magazine and hidden under a pillow on the bed.

The firearm’s owner was identified as Brian G. Ramos, 22, of Reidsville, North Carolina. Ramos later went to police headquarters, where he was arrested without incident.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of a high-capacity magazine, according to police. Ramos was released pending a court hearing.
