Man charged with DWI after disabled truck report in Hunterdon County

READINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Hunterdon County) — A Neshanic Station man was charged with driving while intoxicated after police responded to a report of a disabled pickup truck on a Readington Township roadway, authorities said.

Police said officers were dispatched Sunday, Jan. 18, 2026, at about 10:48 a.m. to County Route 629 near Hendrick Road for a report of a disabled motor vehicle.

When officers arrived, they found a Dodge Ram pickup truck disabled in a lane of travel, police said. The driver was identified as Edward Ciempola of Neshanic Station, according to authorities.

Witnesses at the scene expressed concern about the man’s condition, police said. After an investigation, officers determined Ciempola had been operating the vehicle while intoxicated, authorities said.

Ciempola was taken into custody and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
