Man charged with DWI after Route 10 crash in Morris County

DENVILLE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Morris County) — A Randolph man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle crash Monday night on Route 10 in Denville, police said.

Denville police responded at about 9:48 p.m. Feb. 2, 2026, to a report of a crash on Route 10 westbound near the Hyundai dealership, authorities said.

During the investigation, officers determined that the driver of one of the vehicles, identified as John Kleinchester, 44, showed signs of impairment, police said. Field sobriety tests were administered, and Kleinchester was taken into custody.

Kleinchester was transported to Denville Police Department headquarters for processing and charged with driving while under the influence, reckless driving and careless driving.

Kleinchester was later released pending a future court appearance in Denville Township Municipal Court.
